New to WRAP this year are three committees for you to get involved with. This is a cool opportunity to have a say in the graduate student experience in our program. And we’re eager to involve more folks in the process. Here’s a bit about each committee. To join email us at msuwrap(at)gmail(dot)com.
Communications Committee – Social Events
Members of the Communications (Social Events) Committee for the 2013-2014 year are in charge of grad student fun in the department! We’ll be responsible for engaging our fellow grad students by promoting WRAP social events for the year and for organizing the R & W grad student End of the Year BBQ and Potluck at Lake Lansing Park North. The social committee will also work with the Productivity Committee to plan the Research Speed Networking event in October. There may also be room for planning additional events based on interest and feedback. Throughout the year, we’ll keep notes and records in order to plan for next year’s events.
Productivity Committee – Professional Development
The Productivity (Professional Development) Committee for 2013-2014 academic year will be responsible for coming up with productivity tools and resources for graduate students in the R & W graduate program. In addition, the committee will plan and facilitate this year’s WRAP professional development workshops: Research and Speed Networking Workshop, CV and Professional Document Workshop, Work/Life Balance Workshop and Chapter and Article Proposal Workshop.
Recruitment Committee
Members of the Recruitment Committee for the 2013-2014 year will work closely with the R & W Graduate Committee to plan, promote, and reflect on the events surrounding PhD recruitment. This year, recruitment will take place February 19-22, but there is lots of fun planning that needs to happen before then! For example, traditionally, WRAP sponsors a dinner during recruitment, and last year we helped facilitate the pairing and support of recruitment “buddies,” created the schedule of events for recruits during their visit to MSU, and were generally excited about all things recruitment!
